Return Flight

Narrated by Peter Coyote, this half-hour film chronicles the journey of the bald eagle’s recovery from disappearance on the Channel Islands in the 1960s due to DDT contamination, overhunting, and egg collecting to today’s population of about 70+ birds on four of the eight Channel Islands, including 18 pairs that are successfully breeding. Return Flight is one of several films we have produced for the Montrose Settlements Restoration Program profiling their restoration work. The film is featured in the Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center.

The 12-minute film can be seen here on YouTube. Return Flight has participated in multiple film festivals, including Wild & Scenic, SF Ocean International, DC Environmental, and the Waimea Film Festival, and broadcast nationally on PBS via the series Natural Heroes.
